Everybody lies. It’s really a universal human characteristic. If you’re a good person who’ll tell a lie to not hurt your friend’s feelings, to a cheating spouse, to spies and superheroes, we lie. But most of us wish no person would mislead us. You’re here because you’re one of those people that hate being lied to and wish to know how to be a human lie detector.

Based on Webster’s Dictionary, a lie is a false statement constructed with deliberate intent to deceive. It can be to maintain a secret, to safeguard someone from harm, to shield someone’s self-esteem from getting hurt, in order to avoid punishment, to guide someone astray, to damage someone, etc.

All lies aren’t the same, there are different forms of lies. Here are some:

Omission- Half truths, when one tells the truth but leave out important points
Bluff- Pretending to have or not have something. Poker players do this to throw off other players
Exaggeration- Stretching the truth.

White lie- Minor lie that gives comfort towards the recipient. If you are considering living among other individuals within a society, you’ll have to commit this lie many times.
Bold-Face- an understandable and unbelievable lie
Fabrication- giving an announcement as true despite unsure regardless of whether it certainly is true.
